On March 7th 2025, Espen Friberg & I released our debut album as the duo Flutter Ridder.

Flutter Ridder was released by the brilliant Students of Decay.

I'm so thrilled about this project. I worked with Espen Friberg on his solo album 'Sun Soon' a while back, and it was such a pleasure to arrange and mix his beautiful Serge compositions. Back in November 2023, we spent a week in Hvitsten church, recording new music together: combining the electrical currents of the Serge synthesizer with the f

low of air through the church organ and my clarinet. I find the sounds to be so warm, woody, fluttering and inspiring, and I really hope you will too.

While we were making Flutter Ridder, we kept thinking of the movie The Brothers Lionheart, a film adaptation of Astrid Lindgren's book of same title. The soundtrack to that movie was in a way the soundtrack to my childhood, and the beauty of the synths going in and out of tune has been a big inspiration for me. The story is essentially about fighting fascism and letting love guide us; to not be broken down by violent regimes.

I think many of us are feeling disheartened these days. The amount of hate and violence we are witnessing is overwhelming. I have found that it feels strange to continue with anything - especially taking up space to talk about my own work - but discussing this with my friend Kristoffer Lislegaard, I've come to think that silence is not the answer. We can shine our lights for each other and find strength in solidarity, love, compassion and music. To quote the best David Lynch: "Turn on the light and the darkness goes". I hope you can find some light in this music, and that somehow, it will make your day a little brighter. If so: shine your light upon someone else too.

Much love,

from Jenny (and my buddy Espen)
